Polarion ALM is Siemens' Application Lifecycle Management platform. Instead of spreading a project's requirements, change requests, tasks, test cases and release records across separate tools, it holds them on a single web-based platform. Because every item is linked, you can see at any moment which test verifies a requirement and which change affects it.
Three come up most often: requirements scattered across Excel and Word files, so nobody knows who is looking at which version; no quick way to see what a changed requirement affects; and audits or customer reviews that take days of manual work to assemble traceability evidence for. Polarion removes all three with one system of record and automatic traceability.
IBM DOORS focuses mainly on requirements management; test, change and project management usually need extra tools and integrations. Polarion keeps requirements, change, test and release management on the same platform and runs entirely in the browser, with no separate client to install. Yes. Requirements held in Excel and Word, data in legacy systems such as IBM DOORS, and records in issue trackers can all be moved into Polarion. Data migration is a distinct part of the Aselsis Polarion technical services: the existing structure is reviewed, a field mapping is produced, a sample set is migrated and verified, and then the full data set is transferred.
